The Love That Never Was

Our love could have been epic
The love that’s told in stories for millennium
Atony and Cleopatra would envy us
And if someone were to steal you
I would launch more ships and deploy
More armies than history has ever seen
Romeo and Juliet’s love couldn’t compare
I wouldn’t leave you there dead
Then kill myself to be reunited in the afterlife
I would bring you back to life
And never die
Live eternity by your side

But no!
No happy ending
You’re not a woman scorned
And I’m just a dreamer
left for eternity to bear the whips and scorns
Of a love not known.
A dream, a sleep of death would be better
Than to know this personal hell of never knowing you
